Black Boy yNd intends to run away back to Georgia where her fianc awaits However there is no opportunity for this until Hayden Gale is told to have an approaching voyage to Rio Hayden Gale and Magnolia have been constantly at odds with each other ever since Forsaken Dreams where they shared a kiss Besides that and Magnolia s ogling there has not been much chemistry only frustration But when Magnolia secretly or rather not so secretly follows Hayden into the jungle towards Rio he finds that she isn t the stuck up lady that she seems and some unbidden admiration wells up in Hayden for his companion that unbeknownst to her he is planning on cheating out of her travelling money This book is vividly alive with spiritual warfare containing an intensity to rival Indiana Jones an unexpected to the characters romance and a uniue setting The plot and characters were continuously revealed in different lights to keep me as the reader intrigued I can honestly say that this book went way over my expectations after reading Forsaken Dreams which I found to be slower moving Note You may not want to read the epilogue until the next book is available toou it s uite haunting In addition Magnolia and other characters drink May not be appropriate for easily sea sickened readers Thank Nighttime Sweethearts you so much to Net Galley and Barbour publishing for providing me with an advanced reader s copy of this book to read and review RomanceadventuredarknesslaughterintrigueEnough words These all describe Elusive Hope book 2 in MaryLu Tyndall s Escape to Paradise series MaryLu has out done herself with this book She has shown that she can write stories that not only haveou smiling but stories that awaken ALL of Maternity Bride (Silhouette Desire your senses I tried my best to read this book slowly to savor every morsel But it was so hard to slow down Each chapter ended making me want to read I kept waiting for a lull in the story so that I could have an excuse to stop reading for awhile But alas a lull did not come The sad part now is that I have to wait for what seems like forever for the third book in the series Oh pure tortureWhether they are trekking through the jungles of Brazil hanging out in the New Hope colony or exploring old temple ruins the characters in Elusive Hope will haveou experiencing a lot of emotions I simple love the banter between Magnolia and Hayden Talk about Safe in My Arms your odd couplea princess and a toad Who would have thought Then there are those characters thatou just want to smack And those that make Presunta colpevole you cringe at times So much juicy things going on in this book and so wonderfully writtenI must add that MaryLu Tyndall did an excellent job with the spiritual warfare sections of this story At times I believe she actually channeled Frank Peretti I truly cannot wait to get my hands on Book 3I need to see where she takes this story Ifou haven t read Forsaken Dreams Book 1 in the series I recommend ou buy it along with Elusive Hope Forsaken Dreams tells how and why the characters went to BrazilElusive Hope continues the story in the jungles of Brazil Bravo MaryLu You have a definite winner with this oneEven though I was allowed to read this story in advance through NetGalley I was under no obligation to give a positive review It took me about two weeks to read Elusive Hope and I can assure that it was not because I did not enjoy reading it No I wanted it to last as long as I could possibly make it last Which was still not long enoughI am pretty sure that Elusive Hope was better than the book before it in the Escape to Destiny trilogy Forsaken Dreams if that is even possible Every single word was masterfully written and I loved every second of this novelMagnolia hates life in the fledgling Southern Utopia in Brazil her family forced her to move to So she sets her mind to running away and going home back where she hopes her fiance is still waiting for her It turns out Hayden the charming man she regularly refers to as a toad seems to be her ticket out She braves the task of a multiple day journey through the jungles of Brazil with Hayden to get to Rio in order to catch a ship back to the United StatesTrouble is Hayden doesn t plan on returning her to America Hayden plans on doing what he the confidence man does best swindle Magnolia out of her moneyThe toiling trek to the jungle brings these two unlikely people together in ways they never would have suspectedOn the side there are reoccurring creepy things happening in this creepy jungle including mysterious black mist an abandoned cannibal s dwelling reoccurring visions of people from all the character s pasts and some dark forces that have been unleashed Some of the scenes were written so well they actually had me kind of scared as if I were right there with the charactersOh by the way there are pirates in this book So I obviously loved that part The characters are wonderfully developed I felt like I knew them personally And to top that I felt Magnolia s pain in trekking through the blisteringly hot jungle in all of her underskirts and hoops and high heelsI loved how Magnolia s character grew and changed throughout the novel and I loved Hayden from the beginning and even by the time I was finished readingAll together this is an absolutely lovely piece of writing and I think it has something in it to entertain everyone I recommend it to all of my friendsMerged reviewIt took me about two weeks to read Elusive Hope and I can assure that it was not because I did not enjoy reading it No I wanted it to With The CharactersOh By The Way There Are Pirates In the charactersOh by the way there are pirates in book So I by the way there are pirates in book So I loved that part The characters are wonderfully developed I felt like I knew them personally And to top that I felt Magnolia s pain in trekking through the blisteringly hot jungle in all of her underskirts and hoops and high heelsI loved how Magnolia s character grew and changed throughout the novel and I loved Hayden from the beginning and even by the time I was finished readingAll together this is an absolutely lovely piece of writing and I think it has something in it to entertain everyone I recommend it to all of my friends Elusive Hope I would be drawn in by that title alone if I didn t know anything about the authorbook Having read the title i would be even drawn in when I would be even drawn in when saw the beautiful cover of this bookI have loved MaryLu Tyndall s books ever since I read The Charles Towne Belles series last summer I have since then gobbled up all her books and have loved every single one I own them all and they will be keepers on my shelf forever I m looking forward to re. She survive without all she holds dear wealthy suitors beautiful clothes summer balls and slaves waiting on her every whim She vows to find a way to get back home and attaches herself to handsome Hayden GaleAs they journey toward Rio de Janeiro they each seek to use the other for their own purposes Deceptively Falling in love was never part of their plan.
H stubborn and infuriating people meet Aside from uarrelling every other page they obviously fall in love with each other And their love is strong exciting and tormented Yes because nothing is easy for Hayden and Magnolia and only by trusting God s love they will be able to overcome their fears and live the life they deserveA page turner with many plot twists and jaw dropping scenes Elusive Hope is a story of redemption and forgiveness where ou will also find mysteries galore and supernatural creatures causing our characters some problems I promise ou will not get bored with this story Rating 45 out of 5 stars Once again a well told story by the fabulous MaryLu Tyndall My favorite part was the story between Magnolia and Hayden I loved every part of their overcoming the past growing in their faith all of it The spiritual battle is stretching towards the fantastical side of believable HOWEVER I value any author who puts forth the knowledge that there IS a spiritual battle going on in a realm we can t see Romance meets Frank Peretti I m not uit sure how to categorize this one I really liked the spiritual influence that was seen in The Redemption when Charlisse experiences evil beginning to creep up her but when she calls on God it dissipates and the crow that was looking at her leavesI look forward to reading the 3rd book in the series as well as her upcoming continuation of Edmund and Charlisse s son Yay The second novel in the Escape to Paradise series now brings readers to the hot jungles of Brazilwith romance secrets revenge and a mysterious element thrown in The characters are so freshly written and are at the same time caring conniving and will do whatever they need to do to achieve their goals America s past that was divided not only by a country but the people as well is brought to life in this storySUMMARY So as the ragtag colonists have now made it to their new home in the Brazilian rain forest they have hopes of stating anew after surviving the horrors of the Civil WarBut some of them just don t want to be there And in fact Magnolia is trying to find a way out of the hot and scary jungle to get back home to her comfort zoneand she may have found the perfect solution to her problem Hayden has only one thing on his mind and that is to find his father and make him pay for what he did to him and his mother But first Hayden must find out where his father went and that means leaving the people who have been nothing but kind to him And the last thing he doesn t expect is a spoiled southern belle to captivate him and almost derailing his plans Will the mist of the jungle be Magnolia and Hayden s undoing Another great read by this author and I look forward to the third book in this series I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it I had a feeling it would be my favourite of the three in the Escape to Paradise series Perhaps because we already know the characters and it was easy to get back into their lives perhaps because they ve finally made it to Brazil and their adventures there are really exciting or maybe it s because the romance here is really well developed believable and heart warming If I m being honest it s probably because Hayden is the hero but all the other elements of this novel were so engaging and well crafted together that the result was astounding As engrossing and entertaining as the first book Forsaken Dreams Elusive Hope continues the story of the colonists and their uest to start a new town in Brazil Fraught with danger pirates wild animals and the oppressive heat of the jungle this book is exciting suspenseful and extremely romantic Who would have thought that pampered rich spoiled and selfish Magnolia would make such a good heroine At first I was disappointed when I read from the blurb that she was going to be the heroine but as the story developed she became really interesting and the I learned about her the I liked her *and the easiest it became to understand why she acted the way she did Raised by a father who taught *the easiest it became to understand why she acted the way she did Raised by a father who taught that her external beauty was her only uality and of the utmost importance and a mother too weak to contradict her husband the beautiful Magnolia is used to having her every whim obeyed her hair beautifully arranged and her wardrobe filled with the prettiest dresses Yet try as she might her external appearance is never good enough for her father and his constant reprimands have given Magnolia a very low self esteem She finds herself extremely miserable in Brazil and would give anything to go back to her former life in southern USThus when Hayden announces his intention to leave the colony on
A Personal Uest Of Hispersonal uest of his Magnolia seizes the opportunity and runs away following him in the jungle We already know from Forsaken Dreams that the gorgeous Hayden is desperately looking for his father and wants to make him pay for his crimes He has absolutely no need for a beautiful oung woman to accompany him on his journey she would be a nuisance of course but Magnolia isn t a woman to be easily deterred Having to travel with Hayden repulses her as much as having to face snakes spiders and other bugs but he is her only chance and she is determined to take it So she nicknames him toad and he calls her Princess in a very condescending sarcastic way and sparks fly all the way to Rio de Janeiro It was obvious from their constant bickering and mutual attraction already established in Forsaken Dreams that Magnolia Hayden had excellent chemistry and that a romance between them would be nothing short of highly entertaining Watching Magnolia swindle such a great swindler as Hayden and unwillingly making him fall as hard for her as she was falling for him was oddly satisfying and heart warming Their romance was simply excellent and although they had numerous difficulties to overcome their problems and misunderstandings were not as frustrating as Blake Eliza s and those of the other couple in Abandoned Memories Hayden was really really heart melting and sexy and his roguishness and complicated sad past only added to his charm Him and Magnolia form such an adorable coupleFollowing up the hints of fantasy introduced in the first book Tyndall further develops that theme here by suggesting supernatural spiritual forces at work through the discovery of an old creepy temple visions from the past and a mirror that reflects the state of Magnolia s soul The good vs evil conflict is not at all resolved in this book so again I suggest that His To Claim (McBain Brothers Alpha, you have the next book Abandoned Memories ready whenou are done with this one I really enjoyed the fantasy aspect and thought it blended really well with the rest of the plot Since it was already a very adventurous suspenseful kind of book I thought that adding a fantastical spiritual battle only brought the story to a higher and entertaining level We keep learning about the colonists previously introduced in Forsaken Dreams and again the narration shifts points of view so that we get to know the characters even better Eliza Blake are there of course enjoying a sweet state of marital bliss despite all their difficulties and it was lovely to see them again Since this book closely follows the first one and is really a continuation of the adventure I wouldn t exactly call Elusive Hope a stand alone and would strongly recommend reading Forsaken Dreams first You won t regret it as all books of the series are super good and leave ou wanting Elusive Hope Elusive Hope is the seuel to Forsaken Dreams by MaryLu Tyndall in the Escape to Paradise trilogy Elusive Hope releases November 1 2013 This seuel continues the tale begun in Forsaken Dreams and really would not do so well as a stand alone We return to the lives of our new Brazilian settlers where we find Magnolia Scott working in the hospital while her father breathes down her neck what a lady should and should not do Magnolia seeks relief from him T a good reputation and vows to keep pursuing at any cost the vile man who he believes killed his motherMagnolia is seeking a way out DesperatelyShe's in the jungles of Brazil against her will but what choice does Magnolia Scott have Her father insisted on uprooting their family to escape the uncertainty of Southern life after the Civil War But how will. ,
I m so excited for this book it has everything romance and danger along with Mystery I have a feeling this book will be Marylu Tyndall best one everLike with every book MaryLu Tyndall Elusive Hope was amazing It got me from the start a group of American trying to get away from the damage caused my the Civil War Magnolia Scott has eveything she wants except for a father s love and all she wants is to go back to the state to be with her love And there is the stowaway Hayden Gale hows heart is so full of revenge he can not think of anything else When Magnolia and hayden are in the jungle they both discover things about themselves As I was reading this book I related to Magnolia like very girl all we want is to be excepted in societywith our fathers but we are allnready excpted by one Greater God all mighty him self The one who made us and loves us than anything I got all this through Elusive Hope this is a book every girlwomen needs to read To put it bluntly Magnolia Scott hates Brazil She hates it with a passion In fact she double hates it ou get the picture The insufferable heat the constant filth and the fact that she will be pressed into a marriage of convenience meant to better her family s wobbly position in society only serve to further ground that attitude Life wasn t always like this At one time the Scotts lived a life of luxury Oh eahbut that was BEFORE Magnolia allowed herself to fall prey to a conman who swindled her out of the family s fortune And what a time for it to happen The South was in shambles at the end of the Civil War Chances of a swift recovery let alone a slow recovery were next to zilch And when the opportunity arose to build a Confederate colony in Brazil the Scotts did what any levelheaded and we need money because our daughter is a naive brat person would do They shipped out In Brazil the Scotts hope that a wealthy and eligible bachelor will marry Magnolia and raise the family out of their poverty Ah but such is lifeAfter sometime in Brazil Magnolia has had enough And as if tramping through bug and creature infested jungles is not bad enough Magnolia throws her lot in with Hayden Gale a man she thoroughly detests please keep in mind Magnolia isn t exactly hero material She Is A Brat You don t like right off the bat The author gradually forms her into a likable person But back to the story she forces Hayden to take her through the jungle and to the city with him so she can catch a ship and get back to the States Because uite frankly a forced marriage was bad enough but with that aside Brazil is bizarre There is a supernatural force lingering over the colony and it isn t making life pleasant Individuals or some sort of demon in the form of those individuals from each of the colonists past are materializing before their eyes taunting them Magnolia has no idea how this stuff can be explained and she doesn t intend to stay behind to find out But can she truly escape Will Hayden go back on his word and return her to the colony Find out in MaryLu Tyndall s Elusive HopeIt s not often a book snags my attention that I lose sleep over it in an effort to read just one chapterand then anotherand then another But this one is responsible for just that It s chocked full of adventure mystery and in some cases dry humor Humor is always a plus to me There is also a supernatural element May I add I NEVER read books that deal with the supernatural In fact I avoid it It doesn t often crop up in history books and vampires zombies etc just put me off entirely But this was different and not to mention I hadn t been anticipating it When the colonists began having these strange illusions I thought that in the end it would be found that fumes from a swamp or something were responsible for the eventsSomething to note I would not consider this a family read There were some things that I skipped over because it was too sappy for my tastes or blush inducing But it is still worth a read As I impatiently await the release of the third book I will be locating a copy of the first book to catch up on the back story of some of the other charactersI have also learned Ms Tyndall is the author of other swashbuckling reads Combine that with this and she is now one my favorite authors and in one blow Even
